Why? Peaceful protests and demonstrations are community actions that demonstrate collective power. There is strength and inspiration in recognizing we are in this together and we are stronger together. Protesting is an act of defense of the U.S. Constitution and the embodiment of the First Amendment.
It's America. You have the right and freedom to peaceful assemble!
Who? If you have't demonstrated before nows the time.
If not you who? If not now when?
How? Show up in support just by showing up. Bring a friend, make a friend. Make a sign. Bring an American flag. Bring a cowbell. Bring your dog. Bring wireless speaker with a dance track. Make some new friends, allies and make it fun. And go out after and celebrate your commitment to the common good.
BONUS: INSPIRE OTHERS AND BUDDY UP. You are a role model. and multiply your efforts by investing your "social capital" by inviting or challenging someone to join you. Make activism a weekly commitment and routine - it makes it easier. Talk with your friends, social networks and make a pact and plan of how you - together - will get more involved in real life - NOT only online. And hold each other to it. Make a "democracy buddy" - inspires and motivates you to continue to engage in activism. Flex your activist muscles and working out is likely going to the gym or playing sports its social. Get creative have fun making signs and noise!
"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances".
