19th September Network Against Coup in Thailand and the dilemma of the rural poor

I was told I can not write more, the coup in Thailand for various magazines a. As frustrating as this is over, I understand the position of publishers are in.

I do not want to talk too much about the coup and the Constitution, but there are still some elements of what I want to explore. I wrote several pieces for the coup in my blog and took a strong interest in better understanding of what happened recently.

Not everyone is happyhow events unfolded after the coup. The 19 September Network against Coup d'Etat "is a group, the expression is different from having led us to believe that a whole exists in Thailand. The Thai media has been reluctant to this side of the story.

I for one have my full support for this ad group bias, because they seem to be something about the universal values of human rights and democracy.

It is true that today weare in a state of martial law, that all the corruption in Thailand now cease to exist? Certainly not, and some are even justified the actions of the coup without bloodshed, so to speak, saying that to avoid violence. Maybe so, but abolished the democracy. Sometimes violence is an inevitable byproduct of democracy.

Ugly as it may be that people need this right to be violent and protest and what they believe in democracy can not be expectedpeaceful and Eden-like at all times. Certainly much has been learned from the past.

The fact remains that the leaders of the coup skill in their power, is the presence of any climate change I think is right. If people grow, then this could be a situation where elections could be for power.

Do not think that I speak against the coup, I'm in favor of Thaksin. This is simply false. Some people seem to feel that the onlyThe options are "Thaksin or tanks." Since becoming the case? While I understand that Thaksin is corrupt, thuggish man was, he served most of his 16 million voters effectively. He has not acted ethically, but I still wonder, is a free Thailand Thaksin now free of corruption? Not at all.

What also worries me is that a lot of people are ready to say so, like Thailand does, how it works is the way democracy in Thailand. This is the exactSee that supporters of 19 September Network Against the coup in the fight against Thailand. Years moved on land in the past, and the game This is a great group of people to understand democracy, universal values come from.

The main problem is with the poor rural population. As I said, the values of two weeks to emulate Western Thailand, UK-represented among the more privileged classes in major cities, where the anti-coup like this are aReality. The situation is obviously different for the rural poor who do not care about Western values and the only way in which care benefit directly from the political situation. For this reason they supported Thaksin because the advantage is immediate.

While larger cities are in Western practices on farms, is not so. This illustrates the real problem of the gap between the elite and the poor.

Moreover, the rural masses are not interestedFreedom of speech. Are only interested in winning the best of my understanding, in which here and now, and this is in the form of superficial benefits. So what should be the key in Thailand should the education of millions of people voting power what it means to actually vote.

It 'a very complex and volatile, and one that I often heavy, my head around. Part of me wishes that some 'romantic and unpredictableDemocracy will be refunded, but can be used as this democracy, in theory, when no one really understands what that means? Sometimes I think the Orwellian nightmare is the only solution.

I support the idea behind what is said on September 19 Network, but both are aware that this ideal is far from perfect, because it is an ideal for the social elite. If there were classes in rural areas and then could be returned power to the people easier, but what it seemssuch as damage caused by the formation of Thaksin masses will take years to resolve that. But I was still incredulous, the overthrow of the Constitution of 1997 is not the right thing, because the lack of freedom of expression in place to do now.

The future looks very difficult.
